Troy Price
Tachi
Troy Price began his training in Karatedo and Kobudo in 1982 at
the Columbia School of Karatedo, under the direction of Kyoshi
Ridgely Abele. In 1986 he began studying Jiu-Jitsu along
with his Karatedo training, under the direction of Shihan Steven
Roensch and Kyoshi Abele. In 1997 he also began studying
Bagua Zhang and Qigong and in 2000 began studying Xing-Yi Quan
and Taijiquan. Tachi Price trains with several nationally
and internationally known instructors in the arts of Jiu-Jitsu,
Karatedo, Kyusho-Jutsu, Kobudo, Aikido, Chin-Na, Wing Chun,
Kuntao, Bagua Zhang, Xing-Yi Quan, Taijiquan and Qigong.
He currently holds the grade of fifth degree black belt in
Shintoyoshin-Ryu Jiu-Jitsu and Shuri-Ryu Karatedo, also a third
degree black belt with the US Ju-Jitsu Federation. |
Tachi
Price is presently doing extensive research on the Kyusho-Jutsu/Dim Mak
(vital point striking) aspects within Karatedo. He continues to
study various areas of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Japanese
Restorative Massage. Tachi Price has helped to start and develop
Jiu-Jitsu programs at numerous Karate schools throughout the Southeast.
He has authored a two-volume set of Manuals on the Essential Principles
Of Shintoyoshin-Ryu Jiu-Jitsu. He is currently working on a
Kuysho-Jitsu manual covering the 108 vital points, where the points are,
how to hit them and techniques use to strike them.
Tachi Price travels and trains throughout the United States, Europe,
Mainland China, Hong Kong and Southeast Asia. He conducts seminars
nationally and in Europe. He currently teaches Shuri-Ryu Karatedo
and is the principal instructor in charge of Jiu-Jitsu training at the
Columbia School of Karatedo. In his constant search for the
highest and best use of one's mental and physical abilities, Tachi Price
consistently attends seminars and clinics across the United States and
abroad, seeking to develop the true budo spirit.
Tachi Price is a former member of the USA Karate Federation National
Team. He was a member of the first national kata team and second
national kumite team to train at the USA Olympic Training Center in
Colorado Springs, Colorado. He has competed in many regional,
national and international championships, including placing second at
the 1985 United States Karate Association (USKA) World Championships and
four time South Carolina State Champion.

Sensei Price traveled to Mainland China, where he spent 25 days visiting
14 cities and took a 4-day cruise down the Yangzi River. While in
China he received instruction in Taijiquan and had the opportunity to
practice Bagua Zhang and Qigong. During his trip down the Yangzi River
Sensei Price gave a demonstration of his Karate and Jiu-Jitsu skills to
a group of Chinese and foreign tourist.
